Melissa is an accomplished insurance lawyer with close to 30 years’ experience specialising in advising on multiparty litigation and dispute resolution, with a focus on professional indemnity and general commercial insurance claims, on behalf of insurers and professionals from diverse fields.

Melissa manages general liability claims against owners corporations, builders, contractors, retailers, and commercial premises occupiers. Her proficiency in general commercial insurance extends to advising on personal injury matters, including worker-to-worker/labour hire disputes, as well as property damage, subrogated recovery claims, strata and community title disputes, and coverage litigation. Her expertise spans from defending large-scale litigation to managing small claim matters, representing a wide range of professionals, including barristers, solicitors, financial advisors, auditors, and accountants.

Melissa is adept at distilling the real issues in dispute and engaging with stakeholders to efficiently resolve claims. She takes a commercial approach when providing guidance to insurers generally, as well as when advising on complex policy interpretation issues and has represented major insurers in coverage disputes.

She frequently presents talks and training seminars to clients (insurers, brokers, TPAs, and insureds alike) on risk management and specific insurance-related topics, including policy interpretation, the Insurance Contracts Act 1984, and general claims management.
