Gilchrist Connell accredited with key information security ISO certification

Leading Australian insurance sector law firm, Gilchrist Connell, has been accredited with its inaugural ISO 27001:2013 certificate.

ISO 27001 is a globally recognised standard for information security.  Gilchrist Connell’s policies, procedures and other controls involving people, processes and technology were externally audited by Best Practice Certification to meet this certification.

Recent events have highlighted why informational security is a major risk that need to be addressed by businesses and taken seriously. Businesses are facing increasing scrutiny and interrogation around their data and information security practices. To demonstrate our commitment to addressing this risk, we’re pleased to have been signed off by Best Practice Certification.

Chief Operating Officer at Gilchrist Connell, Kirk Rogers, says, “We are committed to constantly assessing the data privacy and security needs of our firm, our clients, and our people.  As a firm that deals with highly confidential and sensitive data, we have a real focus in taking necessary steps to protect that data and the trust of our clients and our people.”

Managing Principal Richard Wood, states, “Our firm is committed to bolstering our data security and this certification was natural step to further improve how we handle sensitive client information securely. ISO 27001 has been another way we can ensure the security of our client data to deliver this service.”

This certification continues Gilchrist Connell’s track record of being at the forefront of innovation, following its collaboration with Morae Global Corporation to be the first law firm in Australia to leverage Litera Foundation Firm Intelligence platform; and partnering with Thomson Reuters as a first in Australia to move to their Elite 3E Cloud practice management system.
